General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR) is legislation which came into force on 25 May 2018. As an organisation, Rosendale Allotments Association (‘RAA’ or the ‘Association’) hold personal information about our members, customers, and visitors. We use this information, such as contact details, for three main reasons:
– To carry out our duties to you, as a member, customer, or visitor of our organisation;
– to let you know about things which might interest you; and
– to monitor the use of our services, in order to ensure we are delivering good quality.
Under the new law, we are allowed to continue holding and using members’ and customers’ data for the first reason. This is because, as an organisation, we have a ‘contract’ with you.
We are also allowed to continue holding and using members’, customers’, and visitors’ data for the second and third reasons, as we have a ‘legitimate interest’ to do so. However, we must allow you to ‘opt out’ of this use of your data, if you prefer.
The Association takes the privacy and security of its members’, customers’, and visitors’ data seriously, and we will endeavour to meet our legal obligations under the GDPR in order to ensure your individual rights.
